Walk through onboarding in seven steps
After you confirm your email address, the onboarding wizard opens automatically. If you signed up with Google or Microsoft, you land directly on the dashboard. You then start the wizard via Continue onboarding in the “Setup not complete:” notice at the top of the app. You can also restart it later, see the section at the end.
Step 1 — Welcome
Section titled “Step 1 — Welcome”The wizard starts with a short intro. Click Let’s go to begin the actual setup.
Step 2 — Your profile
Section titled “Step 2 — Your profile”- First name, last name, and phone number are required. Your name is used for email signatures and personalised messages. The names from your sign-up or from your Google or Microsoft account are already filled in.
- Flino needs the phone number to reach you for your setup call. According to the app, it is only used for that call, never for marketing. You can type the number the way you are used to, for example “0170 1234567”. Flino stores it in international format and shows you below the field how (“Saved as +491701234567”). Flino reads a leading 0 as the German country code +49, so enter a number from Austria or Switzerland with its country code (+43 or +41).
- What do you mainly work on? (industry) is optional and helps Flino tailor tips and examples.
This step has no X to close the wizard. Continue becomes active once the required fields are filled in.
Step 3 — Your company (workspace)
Section titled “Step 3 — Your company (workspace)”Here you name your workspace, for example “Mustermann Consulting”. This name appears in your emails and on the acceptance page your customers see.
Step 4 — Email sending
Section titled “Step 4 — Email sending”You choose between Connect mailbox (with the Recommended badge) and Set up later. Continue or Skip takes you to the next step. You make the actual connection in step 5, and you can still postpone it there.
Without a connected mailbox (Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 Business), Flino cannot send emails. You can still set Flino up and capture offers, but sending and follow-ups only start once your mailbox is connected.
Step 5 — Connect your email mailbox
Section titled “Step 5 — Connect your email mailbox”Two equal tiles are on offer: Google Workspace / Gmail and Microsoft 365 / Outlook. Flino marks the tile matching your login with a Recommended badge and puts it first. If you signed in with email and password, there is no recommendation. Both tiles remain freely selectable. Connect starts the provider’s secure OAuth flow:
- Google: send emails on your behalf and read replies, import offer PDFs from Drive, check availability and create events in Google Calendar
- Microsoft 365: send emails through your Outlook mailbox and read replies. In the Outlook calendar, Flino only checks availability (free/busy). Creating events and the Drive import exist only with Google.
After a successful connection, the wizard moves on to the next step automatically. If you go back, step 5 shows “Mailbox connected!” with your address and an Active badge. Set up later skips the step. Details: Connect Gmail and Google, Connect Microsoft 365
Step 6 — First offer
Section titled “Step 6 — First offer”Under “How would you like to start?” you have these options:
- Enter manually: only the offer title is required. You can add amount, company, contact, and delivery status now or later.
- Use sample: fills the form with a sample offer, which you create with Create offer.
- Upload PDF (up to 20 MB): Flino extracts title, amount, and customer data automatically, with confidence badges “Confident” / “Review” / “Uncertain”.
- Skip for now: you can add offers any time later.
You can create a company and a contact right inside the wizard (New company, Add a new contact). If you enter an email address for the contact, the salutation is required.
Every offer you create here, including the sample, counts against your plan’s offer quota. On the Free plan that is 5 offers per cycle, see Billing.
Step 7 — Done
Section titled “Step 7 — Done”Flino shows what is already done (Organisation created, Email configured, Mailbox connected, First contact). If you still lack a contact or an offer, the step is called “Almost done” and offers buttons for the open items, such as Add your first contact, Create your first offer, or Activate follow-up. If you created an offer in step 6, View first offer takes you straight there. Go to dashboard ends the wizard.
Restart onboarding later
Section titled “Restart onboarding later”As long as you lack a contact or an offer, Flino shows the notice “Setup not complete:” at the top of the app with the button Continue onboarding.
If you want to walk through the wizard again from the start:
- Go to Settings → Profile.
- Scroll to the Onboarding card and click Restart onboarding.
- Flino resets your progress and opens the wizard again at step 1.
What to do when a step is stuck
Section titled “What to do when a step is stuck”- Loading error: click Try again.
- You want to leave the wizard: the X in the top right ends it in every step except the profile step. You skip individual steps with Set up later or Skip for now. Anything you skipped can be done later in Settings.
- Continue stays grey in step 2: first name, last name, and a valid phone number are required. If the number is invalid, the field shows a hint with an example.
