Set the AI writing style and salutation

Flino writes emails in the tone you choose. The settings are organisation-wide and apply to all AI-generated text (first email, follow-ups, reply suggestions).

Settings → Email.

Two key settings sit there:

  1. Default salutation — formal or informal
  2. AI writing style — one of four personas

You pick between:

  • Sie (formal) — German formal address
  • Du (informal) — German informal address

The choice acts as the default for new contacts. You can override it per sequence step (the Salutation style field in the editor).

Tip: In some industries (consulting, legal, finance) German “Sie” is the default; in many creative or tech contexts “Du” is expected. Match it to your audience.

Flino offers four personalities that shape how the AI writes:

Straight to the point, short sentences, clear questions and CTAs. Ideal for modern, efficient communication.

Useful when your counterpart has little time or you operate in IT/SaaS.

Friendly and cooperative, builds trust — without small-talk overkill.

Good for longer business relationships where rapport matters.

Highlight value, make decisions easy, propose concrete next steps (A/B options, meeting, sign-off).

Good for sales processes where active closing is the goal.

Distant-polite, strictly factual, conservative tone. Good for regulated industries, government, formal stakeholders.

The chosen style shapes:

  • Wording and sentence structure in every AI-generated email
  • Tone of the subject line
  • Directness of the calls to action (“Looking forward to your reply” vs “When does this week work for you?”)

What it does not change:

  • Substantive arguments — those come from the offer data
  • Timing of emails — that’s set by the sequence
  • Salutation — that lives in a separate setting
  • You win deals, but feedback says “sounds too formal” → switch to Collaborative or Clear & concise.
  • You lose deals because the email feels pushy → switch to Collaborative or Formal & neutral.
  • You need more closing power → switch to Closing focus.

In Settings → Profile you can set the default language for emails. This is the pre-fill in the AI reply editor when the contact doesn’t have a language of their own.

For individual contacts you can store a different language — Flino then writes in that language automatically.
